PwC Named a Leader in Capital Projects and Infrastructure Consulting by ALM

Noted as Best in Class for operating systems and project management
 
Consulting for capital projects has traditionally been around construction, infrastructure, transportation or public sector industry practices. While this is still the foundation of the industry, additional consulting services around design and planning, technical and digital expertise are continually being added by the industry leading consulting firms.
 
PwC was named a leader for Capital Projects and Infrastructure Consulting in the ALM Vanguard report. Tomek Jankowski, author of the report, said of PwC, “PwC weds capital and portfolio strategy with its powerful data analytics capabilities to help clients design, plan and implement successful capital projects. PwC also ventures into innovative methods such as drones and blockchain.”
 
In the report, PwC was awarded Best in Class for operating systems and project management. For the former, the report notes, “PwC focuses on process in capital projects, helping clients design, plan and implement the asset’s data and technology environment, while integrating those with other relevant client functions. PwC also deploys innovative technology tools and solutions in its capital projects offering, including blockchain and its AI Accelerator.” On the latter accolade, the report notes, “Project life cycle is a key component to PwC’s offering in capital projects, with its three-pronged approach of project assurance, project excellence and project technology. Combined with both deep project management and industry expertise, PwC is a formidable partner for capital projects clients.”
 
On PwC’s consulting service offerings, Jankowski states, “The spear point of PwC’s capital projects services originally derived from its strategy arm, Strategy&, and this is reflected in the heavy emphasis PwC puts on effective design and planning. PwC offers full project lifecycle services, spanning strategy, operations, finance, digital transformation and includes deep industry expertise, as well as pulling in expertise from other practice areas: GRC, tax, corporate finance and human capital. The report discusses PwC’s project planning approach, “As PwC puts the emphasis on proper planning up front in projects, it utilizes its Process Excellence Framework to guide clients through the process. This framework has six basic elements: project execution, strategy & planning, integrated project technology, controls & governance, performance insights & reporting, project & team organizational effectiveness, and capital portfolio management & governance.”
 
It also goes on to note, PwC’s dedication to investing in technology, “One of the biggest areas of investment for PwC in capital projects recently has been around data and related technologies -- intelligent automation (RPA), augmented and virtual reality (and drones), AI (including an AI Accelerator tool), machine learning, and blockchain.”
