After becoming a partner she worked as engagement partner on various large Indian and multinational clients. She was the first female partner to be elected to the POC and to be appointed as the Chief Ethics Officer.
After the events of 2009, she was appointed as the Assurance Leader of the firm. She also was inducted onto the ILT after she took over the TAL role. She navigated the Assurance practice through one of the most difficult times in the history of the firm. She and her partners were able to keep our clients, staff and partners together and she consider this as one of her biggest achievements. She worked along with the lawyers and various people in the firm to arrive at the terms of settlement with the PCAOB and the SEC. She took over the Assurance Risk & Quality Leader role in April 2012.
In her new role as Global Diversity Leader since December 2016, Sharmila will focus her efforts on bringing more diversity throughout the PwC network.
