Chief Risk Officer
Mary Waldron is PwC’s Global Chief Risk Officer.
She is responsible for leadership of network and global risk management from a strategic, operational and client perspective, and leadership and oversight of risk governance, strategy and compliance across the PwC network.
Mary was a member of the Australian firm's leadership team since joining in 2007, most recently as Managing Partner for Reputation, Regulation & Risk, and formerly as Managing Partner for Networks, and Managing Partner for Strategic Marketing and Communications. She was also the Risk & Quality leader for PwC's Asia Pacific Network of Firms.
Mary joined PwC Australia from Ernst & Young in Melbourne where she held the role of Melbourne Managing Partner and was a member of the Board. She was also formerly a partner with Arthur Andersen.
Mary has almost 30 years’ experience in providing assurance and advisory services and advice to some of Australia’s largest listed national and multinational public companies, CEOs and directors.
A chartered accountant, Mary holds an honours degree in Economics and Social Studies from Trinity College, Dublin; is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia; and a Vincent Fairfax Fellow of the Melbourne Business School. Mary is also a member of the Irish Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Chief Executive Women.
In addition to her professional responsibilities, Mary was the Chairman of the Centre for Ethical Leadership Advisory Board at Ormond College (University of Melbourne) and has been a director of a number of organisations including Opera Australia, the Macfarlane Burnet Institute for Medical Research & Public Health, The Australian Ireland Fund Ltd, and the Melbourne Recital Centre. She was also a Director of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
Mary is married to Malcolm, and they have two children, Alexandra & Dillon.
