Changes in technology and global financial markets are creating new challenges and opportunities
Commenting on the capabilities of PwC, the report highlights that “PwC exhibits the deepest capabilities in this area, drawing on an engagement model that brings together strengths from across its advisory, capital markets, and strategy & operations resources with a service delivery model geared towards instilling lasting client capabilities. The firm is notable for its market leading strength across the Corporate Finance capabilities, with an overarching orientation towards risk, as well as its broad treasury capabilities, especially for financial services clients.
ALM identifies PwC as ‘best in class’ for the Short-Term Financial Management capability area. They highlight that “while many providers offer services to assist their clients in improving their cash management, few extend this beyond the cash conversion cycle or can make these improvements sustainable. PwC stands out in two ways: 1) it brings to bear diverse resources that can attack cash management from all angles, including risk and investment; and 2) the firm puts in place the process and governance mechanisms that can foster what it terms a “cash culture,” rather than a one-time optimisation.”
They also highlight that “PwC provides corporate finance & treasury management services through its Strategy, Management, and Risk Consulting practices (including its Strategy& affiliate), supplemented by capabilities from its Assurance and Tax practices. PwC orients its consulting approach around assisting clients’ finance functions to maximise corporate value amid conditions of increasing and accelerating change. Areas of focus include helping treasury functions to understand and adapt their strategies and operations to changes in regulation, tax, and other sources of risk.
Commenting on achieving the Vanguard rating, Peter Frank, Financial & Treasury Management leader, said: “We are delighted to be named a leader in this ALM Vanguard. Our aim is to be a market leading Corporate Finance practice that delivers innovative deal solutions, providing advice and support, industry and market knowledge, from initiation through to deal completion. In addition, our Financial Management & Treasury specialists work with clients to help them achieve their most important financial objectives to drive greater shareholder value including increased cash flow, increased returns on capital and reduced financial risk.”
